Join aspiring entrepreneurs, current small business owners, support professionals, fiscal and legal agencies, and North Country leaders for Small Communities. Big Opportunities. (SCBO), a three-day, hybrid conference. SCBO is presented by the North Country Center for Businesses in Transition (CBIT) partnership, and welcomes anyone with a dream of business ownership and who lives, or wants to live, in northern New York State.

SCBO attendees will:

  • Learn the ins and outs of taking over an existing business, tackle marketing and branding challenges specific to business transitions, dive into the logistics of accessing capital, gain valuable insights into relocating to the North Country and more; 
  • Have opportunities to meet face-to-face with retiring business owners to learn about available business opportunities without pressure to commit to purchase.

Schedule and Events:

  • Participants are able to attend in-person or virtually. We strongly encourage you to join us in person to build connections and deepen your North Country relationships. 
  • The conference will begin on the last day of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. Come for the carnival, stay and learn about making the North Country your home.

The in-person registration fee includes all following benefits at the iconic Hotel Saranac: 

  • An invitation to an exclusive Sunday evening reception preceding the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Closing Fireworks Display;
  • A full day of programming on Monday, including breakfast and lunch; and,
  • A half day of programming on Tuesday, including breakfast.
